Objective: Cognates make our ability to understand, and use a secondary language much easier. In this lesson you will learn how to: 1) Define what a "Cognate" is. 2) Determine how cognates can facilitate (help) your language learning. 3) Identify common cognates in various global languages. 4) Recognize the dangers of "false cognates".

- Step 3) Review the list of Common Food Cognates posted below. You will need to know some of these for the Cognate exam, as such you may wish to write down the cognates you are not able to recognize.
- Step 4) Review the list of common false cognates posted below. It is strongly recommend you note the most common as you will need these for the Cognate exam.
- Step 5) Complete the Cognate exam posted on Canvas.
